Joel has been a full time fee appraiser since 1976. He is currently Vice-President of Fredericton Appraisal Associates Ltd.

During his career Joel has been involved in a wide range of appraisal and consulting assignments. These have included property types ranging from single family residential to commercial and industrial complexes. During more recent years he has specialized in multiple family, varying types of vacant land, as well as commercial and industrial properties. These assignments have been for a variety of purposes including purchase and sale, financing, asset management and expropriation. Joel has testified as an expert in real estate appraisal before the New Brunswick Court of Queens Bench (both Family and Trial Divisions) and the New Brunswick Assessment Review Board.

He has been involved with the Appraisal Institute of Canada at the national (committee) and provincial levels and recently served on the Board of Examiners of the New Brunswick Association of Real Estate Appraisers.

Joel and his wife Elaine are very proud of their three sons, Mitchell, Jordan and Jesse. Although he enjoys many outdoor activities and sports, much of his spare time is dedicated to singing with "The LaPointe's a gospel vocal band consisting of Joel, his younger sister and his two brothers.
