Mac started his own real estate bokerage and appraisal business in Fredericton in 1973 and gradually became involved exclusively in appraisal. In 1997 he sold his business to Fredericton Appraisal Associates Ltd. whom he and all his employees joined in the continued practice of real estate appraisal, consulting and arbitration.
Prior to commencing his apprasial career Mac was employed with several financial institutions holding positions from trainee to District Manager. During the course of his career he has listed and sold all types of real estate including residential, commercial and industrial properties as well as vacant land ranging from residential building lots to large tracts of wood and recreational land.
As a fee apprasier Mac has appraised many and diverse types of properties throughout New Brunswick. During more recent years he has specialized in appraisals related to acquisitions for the new Trans-Canada Highway along with multiple family residential and commercial/industrial properties.
He has been active in real estate organizations throughout his career and has served as President of the Real Estate Board of the Fredericton Area (1979) and the New Brunswick Real Estate Association (1981). He also served as Chairman of the New Brunswick Real Estate Council from 1985 to 1987.
Mac has also been involved in Appraisal Institute of Canada affairs for many years where he has served in many capacities including Chairman of the Western New Brunswick Chapter and President of the New Brunswick Association.
His community involvement includes having served as an active member and President of the Fredericton Kiwanis Club. Mac and his wife Bernadine have five children - daughters Kathi Hurley, Janis Therialut, Caroline Hill and Joanne Saunders and son John Carter (also with Fredericton Appraisals). They also have eight grand children. |
